Today is the day that Michael Ignatieff will announce whether or not he’ll topple the Tories. Last week both the Bloc and the NDP said they’d voted against the Conservatives if a motion of non-confidence was presented by the Liberals. The gun is pretty much loaded.
Here’s my prediction: Iggy will say that he’s very upset that the Conservatives have no plan for the economy. He’ll chastise them for not controlling the size of the deficit. He’ll say that not enough money is going out the door, that Canadians are having too much difficulty getting access to EI, and than jobs just aren’t being created. Then…
Then he’ll say that Canadians want this government to work and that he’s trying to make this government work. He’ll say he’s disappointed in the latest economic report card, but… wait for it… he’ll support it “reluctantly” and tell the Conservatives that they have to shape up and get the economy back on track by September.
There will be no election. Not this time.
UPDATE: Shock of shocks. I was right. I’d say I feel smart, but this is not something that makes one smart.
