I have little to add today. Pardon me, but I’m having a hard time getting excited about Ben’s dad taking the stand at the Oliphant Inquiry. Elephant Inquiry… count me in. But this… Now Conrad Black is getting some more court action. This is my junior coincidence of the day. I wonder if Lord Blizzack will get more play in the press than the 18th Prime Minister of our country over the next few days. The two could very likely compete for A1 space in both the G&M and the Post. (Didn’t see that coming 10 years ago!) Perhaps Hello! could get into it as well since both men sport lovely wives to and from their respective engagements.
My favourite coincidence, and by coincidence I mean not a coincidence at all, of the day is the Conservative attack ads on Michael Ignatieff (he’s so cosmopolitan!) vs. Iggy’s new book called “True Patriot Love” which, if memory serves, is directly plagiarized from our national anthem. I think that Ignatieff takes the edge in this one. The Tory ads come off as caustic which will likely turn off some voters. Writing a book about how much you love Canada, and how much your lineage means to Canada, when you’ve spent the past three decades avoiding it to make your hay in greener pastures is some top notch baffling bullshit which people are just dumb enough to buy.
